Atlantic Rally for Cruisers: Fulvio Angelini from Lake Garda to the Caribbean
Fulvio Angelini, an artist and sailor from Lake Garda, is about to realize his dream of celebrating his seventieth birthday by sailing across the Atlantic. Currently in Las Palmas, he is ready to set off for Saint Lucia, participating in the 40th edition of the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers, alongside 150 other yachts. The event involves over 1,200 sailors from 38 countries, making this approximately 2,700 nautical mile journey a unique opportunity to sail in a fleet toward another continent. Angelini will share the adventure with two students from Lake Garda and a novice, thanks to the generosity of the Brescia-based owner Alberto Cavagnini and his boat, Mira. During the crossing, Angelini will cast into the ocean bottle messages from artist Paolo Buzi, adding a poetic significance to the endeavor. Buzi has had similar experiences and has included three of his works in the journey: representations of Danae, Electra, and Creusa. With this symbolic gesture, Angelini aims to celebrate not only the beauty of sailing but also the importance of the human connections forged during these adventures on the open sea.
