Valeggio sul Mincio is gearing up to celebrate its candidacy as Capital of Culture 2028 with a gastronomic initiative that highlights the renowned local tortellini. From November 30 to December 8, 2025, five artisanal pasta makers from the area will offer special tortelli inspired by the symbols of the region: the “Verona” Tortello with red radicchio, the “Mantova” Tortello with pumpkin, the “Colline Moreniche” Tortello with pheasant flavored with Lugana wine, the “Fiume Mincio” Tortello with pike, and finally, the “Lago di Garda” Tortello with lavarello. This initiative is the result of collaboration between the Municipality of Valeggio sul Mincio and local associations aimed at promoting culinary culture as an integral part of the area’s identity. Mayor Alessandro Gardoni and Councilor Eva Nocentelli emphasized how gastronomy represents a powerful form of cultural storytelling, capable of uniting traditions and quality. Daniela Cavallo, the director of the candidacy project, highlighted the importance of enhancing local products and gastronomic identities to build a future rich in opportunities. This initiative invites everyone to discover the authentic flavors of the region while contributing to writing a new chapter in the cultural history of Valeggio sul Mincio. Italian Version
