Desenzano Overpass: Opening and Impacts on Borgo Machetto
The new overpass on Via Grezze has been inaugurated, located on the road connecting Borgo Machetto to the trattoria La Rossa and Lavagnone. This significant infrastructure currently spans only the A4 motorway. Measuring 175 meters in length and constructed of steel and concrete, it is an integral part of the traffic transformation associated with the Brescia-Verona High-Speed Railway, set to be completed by next year with the new AV/AC Brescia Est-Verona railway line. Built by Cepav due, the overpass features four spans and an 8.5-meter-wide roadway, designed to accommodate future motorway expansions as well. Open to traffic for just a few days, the overpass is currently in “temporary configuration,” as indicated by the ordinance from the Local Police of Desenzano. Although partial static testing certificates and those for the proper installation of road barriers have already been issued, completion work will continue over the coming months without disrupting traffic. This new bridge represents the latest in a series of ancillary works related to the Brescia Est-Verona line, which has seen the construction of 15 overpasses and 9 underpasses in the area.
