Valeggio sul Mincio and Ponte Visconteo: candidacy for Capital of Culture 2028
Valeggio sul Mincio is currently experiencing a significant moment in its bid for Italian Capital of Culture 2028, thanks to the support of the Arena di Verona Foundation. Recently, a delegation from the municipality, including key figures such as city councilor Fabrizio Dall’Oca and the candidacy director, architect Daniela Cavallo, attended events aimed at promoting local culture. Notably, a special event was organized at the Visconti Bridge, where the Children’s Choir performed the famous “Va’ pensiero” from Giuseppe Verdi’s Nabucco, an initiative that emphasizes the importance of new generations and emerging talents. The gathering took place as part of the ‘Cultivating People’ project, which is an integral part of the candidacy dossier. The goal is to convey a message of harmony and peace, recalling the historical periods that have shaped Valeggio and its surroundings. Mayor Alessandro Gardoni expressed gratitude to the Arena Foundation for this opportunity, hoping for future collaborations that can bring to life the cultural projects outlined in the candidacy program.
