Riva del Garda and the Krampus Parade: Alpine Tradition Revives in Folklore

Riva del Garda is gearing up to revive one of its most captivating traditions with the Krampus Parade, scheduled for Sunday, December 14, 2025. This event, taking place in the heart of the city, will feature demonic and noisy figures, embodying an ancestral rite tied to Alpine customs. Attendees will witness a procession starting from Sant’Ippolito, winding through the streets of Riva del Garda, where the Krampus, with their intricately carved masks and dark furs, will create striking visual and auditory scenes. The event is not just a spectacle, but also a celebration of an ancient tradition that accompanies the Advent season. In fact, the Krampus represent the darker side of the legend of Saint Nicholas: while the Saint rewards good children, these creatures punish the naughty ones. The atmosphere will be enhanced by food stands offering local specialties, making the evening not only an immersive experience in Alpine folklore but also an opportunity to savor the culinary delights of the region.
