Support Local Businesses with Holiday Shopping in Brescia

As Christmas approaches, nearly 20 million Italians are expected to make last-minute holiday purchases, according to a recent Confesercenti-Ipsos survey. In the province of Brescia, the average spending per person on gifts is around 300 euros, exceeding the national average of 250 euros. This trend aligns with the broader consumer behavior in Northern Italy, contributing to an estimated overall holiday spending of 9.5 billion euros. Notably, 62% of Italians plan to shop at local stores, supporting community businesses.

Barbara Quaresmini, president of Confesercenti Lombardia Orientale, emphasizes the critical role of neighborhood shops in fostering community connections. On average, each consumer will purchase about eight gifts, focusing on categories such as clothing and cosmetics. Andrea Maggioni from Confesercenti Lago di Garda points out the importance of historic centers for both commerce and social interaction, with upcoming events aimed at enhancing the attractiveness of local shopping streets and encouraging residents and visitors to contribute to the local economy.
