Historic Town Centers Drive Tourism as Lake Garda Traditions Flourish

Tourist presence in historic centres of Brescia province rose 6% in December 2025 versus the same month a year earlier, signaling a positive trend for tourism and local commerce, according to an analysis by Confcommercio Brescia’s research office based on mobile phone cell data across the six main towns monitored, including Brescia, Desenzano del Garda, Salò and Sirmione.

Brescia led the gains with a 10.3% increase and more than 34,000 presences, driven largely by foreign visitors, while Sirmione recorded the largest jump at 167.4%. Desenzano and Salò also posted solid results, reflecting sustained attractiveness of lake-area destinations in the low season. Confcommercio president Carlo Massoletti called for operators and administrations to coordinate on managing and supporting winter tourist flows and expressed hope the trend will continue through the year-end holidays into 2026.
