Riva del Garda’s New Year Plunge Upholds Tradition, Encourages Participation

The New Year’s Dive in Riva del Garda returns on Wednesday 1 January 2026 for its 28th edition, culminating in a synchronized plunge at noon in front of the Torre dell’Anzolim; the non‑competitive, free event requires participants to wear only swimwear (no wetsuits or thermal garments) and aims to exceed last year’s turnout of around 200 people. Registration is not required in advance; organizers record attendance on arrival for statistical purposes.

Participants will assemble at 11:00 in Piazza 3 Novembre, with preparatory stripping beginning around 11:30 before the noon dive signaled by the first toll of the Renga from Piazza Catena. An optional post‑dive lunch will be held at Hotel Liberty, and organizers note the longstanding local tradition of favorable weather and sunshine at the moment of the plunge.
