Dangerous Overtakes and License Suspensions Highlight Road Safety on SP510
A driver was stopped yesterday at 2:10 PM on the SP510 after performing dangerous overtakes inside a tunnel, risking road safety. The driver, who overtook about ten vehicles, was caught by a Provincial Police patrol and issued a fine; his license will be suspended for one to three months.
The Brescia Provincial Police reported that this incident is part of a broader effort to improve road safety on SP510 and surrounding roads, with 332 licenses revoked this year for violations including illegal overtaking, mobile phone use, and driving under the influence. Increased patrols, especially during evening and night hours in collaboration with national police, have led to 87 arrests for specific offenses during the peak tourist season in December.
