Garda Uno Environmental Education Project for Schools Near Lake Garda
A greater and more impactful understanding of the tasks and activities of the Consorzio Garda Uno Special Company. This is the goal of a project that has been under development for some time by the company’s counselor, Dr. Walter Romagnoli, with the collaboration of external consultant Professor Adalberto Da Casto.
Objectives and target of the project
An initiative mainly aimed at the first-grade school environment within the schools of the Garda region, involved in Garda Uno’s environmental activities. Numerous meetings between the Consorzio representatives and the heads of the educational sector have taken place in recent months, with another scheduled for the end of August so that, if all goes well, the initiative can be introduced at the start of the next school year.
A natural vehicle, that of students, capable of delivering the message Garda Uno intends to convey directly into most households, promoting greater awareness among the entire population about the preservation and protection of environmental assets and the entire ecosystem, which along the shores of Lake Garda, are highly valuable.
The project’s focus will primarily be on three sectors: water, waste, traffic and road maintenance.
Methodology and collaboration
Naturally, the entire project package will need to be presented and proposed to various teachers to gain their endorsement and collaboration, regardless of individual differences. This project was not created by chance but within the framework of ongoing environmental activities in Brescia schools and, in particular, those in the Garda Brescia territory.
The planned intervention for each topic will involve both technical-scientific support for the involved teachers and assistance in developing educational units to be presented to students during the 1999/2000 school year.
Main themes and participating schools
As mentioned, the three sectors will focus on topics such as water harvesting, distribution, and purification; waste separation, disposal, and renewable energy sources for waste management.
The middle schools involved will be located in Desenzano or Rivoltella, Sirmione, Manerba, San Felice del Benaco, Padenghe, and Salò.
