Lonato Launches Support Services and Rental Aid for Families
As the administrative activities in Lonato are being revitalized, two initiatives, launched around the time of the transition of power, could be completed in the short term.
Funds to Support Families
In Lonato, funds might become available to help lower-income families pay their rent, while the Informagiovani office initiative could soon be launched. This project has already surpassed the preliminary phase and, awaiting the new management structure, has been developed in collaboration with the Compagnia delle Opere di Brescia.
Regarding the Informagiovani, rumors suggest that the Regione is securely funding 80 percent of the projected expenses over three years for establishing and operating a very important service for young people. The three-year cost of the initiative is estimated at around 180 million euros. However, the Regional Council’s resolution for the contribution has not yet been approved.
Support Services and Rental Assistance
Informagiovani will serve as a support service structured in multiple directions, although initially its main focus will be on the workforce: preparing applications and documents for public competitions or job applications to private companies. It is probable that the initiative will also include guidance addressing family and school issues and needs.
Regarding rental assistance—which often constitutes a significant expense for families and individuals with lower income—the Social Services Office of the Comune di Lonato, headed by Ivana Fina, has been working on the procedures required by the Regione to access funding. The Municipality will soon issue an announcement and collect applications from interested parties to create a ranking list that will be forwarded to the Region. Although this initiative is still in its initial stages, updates might be coming soon.
Electric Lifts for Household Units
We conclude with the electric lifts initiative, which the Municipality has allocated to families caring for individuals who spend a lot of time in bed or are unable to move.
Caring for patients in such conditions is not at all easy, especially because providing necessary care often requires moving the person, which can be difficult to do alone. The Municipality has therefore signed an agreement with a specialized company that supplies and installs—free of charge for private citizens—pressure lift devices that facilitate interventions for immobile individuals.
The agreement provides for the availability of seven lifts, five of which have already been assigned. Installing the equipment takes only a few minutes and does not require significant structural work. Interested individuals should contact the Social Services Office.
