Elementary Students Create Educational Waste Sorting Guide
Children set an example. The students of elementary school “Don Quirico Turazza” have published, in collaboration with the Ecology Department, a fun and educational guide on the separation of household waste.
The same children from classes IV A, B, and V illustrated the entire booklet. With the help of their teachers, they translated into words and drawings the proper way to sort the large quantities of waste that each family produces daily.
Children’s involvement and content of the guide
Using short, catchy nursery rhymes, the young students developed a sensitivity to the issue and identified ways to improve, starting from their own parents.
At the end of the colorful booklet, distributed by the Municipality to all families, there are a few impactful informational tips that more effectively convey the importance of proper waste recycling than many speeches.
“The educational work took place both in the classroom and outside with guided visits,” explains teacher Luciana Girelli.
Criticisms and final gathering event
“The overall picture that emerged unfortunately shows a lack of attention to recycling.”
Finally, parents were present en masse at the end-of-year performance at the open-air theater at Castello Scaligero, where students starred in the recital titled: “We Are All Wonderful.”
