Molina di Ledro Launches Planning for New Tunnel and Roundabouts on S-1040 Alternative

The design phase for a new 1,200-meter tunnel and two roundabouts connecting the Molina di Ledro road variant has officially begun, as part of the S-1040 project by Trento Province. The €1.66 million feasibility study and potential detailed design contract was announced by Apac, aiming to bypass Molina di Ledro’s center, improve pedestrian safety, and alleviate traffic congestion on State Road 240.

The project includes two 40-meter diameter roundabouts linking to an upgraded road with a two-lane, bidirectional carriageway, plus sound mitigation measures and enhanced pedestrian pathways. The design process must be completed by February 24, 2026, involving provincial and external technical experts to develop the detailed project.
