Another episode of youth violence has shaken the territory of Montichiari. During the evening of Saturday, May 4th, at the amusement park set up for the San Pancrazio fair, a brawl broke out between two groups of teenagers from Montichiari and Calcinato.
The clashes took place in front of concerned onlookers, who immediately alerted the police. Ten patrols of the carabinieri intervened to calm the situation and reconstruct the events.
Unfortunately, one of the young people involved in the brawl suffered a compound fracture of the nasal septum and was hospitalized for necessary treatment. Investigations are still ongoing to understand the dynamics of the incident.
The mayor of Montichiari, Marco Togni, commented on the episode on social media, stating that the brawl seems to have been organized through chat groups. Furthermore, he declared that someone had even suggested to the staff of the bars present at the amusement park to prepare ice in anticipation of the clashes.
Togni also expressed the possibility of closing the amusement park early as a preventive measure: “I will assess with the law enforcement authorities what happened and, if necessary, I will ask the rides to leave. They are not at fault, but they are an attraction for the young people.”
However, this decision has generated controversy within the community. Many citizens believe that the early closure of the amusement park would be a punishment for families and children who innocently enjoy the rides. At the same time, there is concern that episodes of youth violence may move to other areas of the city.
The situation is still evolving and it will be necessary to carefully evaluate the measures to be taken to ensure the safety of young people and visitors to the amusement park, without penalizing anyone who has nothing to do with the episodes of violence.
