Castiglione Mayor Clarifies No Competition Between Nursing Homes

“I do not believe that the presence of Zanetti Cominelli is an alternative to a private nursing home.” Mayor Sigurtà, who nonetheless awaits a detailed discussion with the council about the matter, dismisses any speculation and clarifies that it is not the administration’s intention to operate in a manner adverse to the existing facilities in the area, particularly Zanetti Cominelli.

The mayor refers to the meeting held with the companies proposing the development of an assisted living residence for the elderly in San Pietro and states: “We met with these entrepreneurs along with opposition party leaders, or at least those who participated, to ensure maximum transparency and participation in this situation.”

They presented a project that would be carried out by private entities and, therefore, has absolutely nothing to do with competing with Zanetti Cominelli. The latter is actively working to obtain accreditation for the coming years, and according to the data we have, it does not seem to need to spend much money to achieve this by 2003.

Before making more in-depth assessments of the private proposal, I believe it is appropriate for the council to also express its opinion.” However, the mayor does not believe that two nursing homes in Castiglione are excessive—on the contrary: “I believe our community can comfortably accommodate two nursing homes, or at least two elderly care facilities.”

He even suggests that three would not be too many, considering the number of residents and our community’s size. In any case, Zanetti Cominelli should not consider itself in competition with the others.”
