Cultural Tuesdays in Castiglione: Topics on Middle East, Immigration

The cultural Tuesdays organized by the parish of Santi Nazario e Celso are back, starting Tuesday, January 9th, with a distinguished guest, the auxiliary bishop of Jerusalem. At 8:30 pm at the Supercinema, the topic ‘Palestine, Broken Peace. The Difficult Israeli-Palestinian Coexistence’ will be discussed: a subject of profound interest that has been shaking the conscience of the entire world in these days of bloodshed, addressed with a prominent figure like monsignor Kamal Hanna Bathish, a Catholic of Arab origins who lives daily the tragedy of the Holy Land. This year, the Pastoral Council has chosen current themes.

There will be seven meetings, from January 9th to February 20th. The first two Tuesdays will take place at the Supercinema, while the remaining five sessions will be held in the Bachelet hall, near the civil hospital. On Tuesday the 16th, the topic ‘Immigration, a historic event and a matter of conscience. From guests to citizens’ will be discussed, with Father Egidio Monzani, a Franciscan from Assisi, known in Castiglione thanks to the parish mission that hosted the Umbrian friars.

Topics of the meetings and speakers

On Tuesday the 23rd, in the Bachelet Hall, ‘Open to all, but in love with Christ. Religious pluralism challenges the true identity of the Christian’, with monsignor Lucio Cuneo, diocesan delegate for ecumenism of the Diocese of Brescia. Then on Tuesday the 30th, ‘Watchers and watched. Italian television in the era of Big Brother’, with journalist Umberto Folena.
