Monte Rocchetta Tunnel Construction Nears Completion for Riva-Limone Road

The works to bore into Monte Rocchetta, aimed at constructing the 940-meter tunnel for the Limone-Riva roadway axis, are progressing according to the schedule, which sets the completion of the tunnel and the opening of road traffic by July 31.

These are record-time works costing 75 billion. A few weeks after the project’s start, in Limone, the tunnel entrance is already in place, while in Riva, at the other end of the gallery, the tunnel structure is perfectly outlined.

Management of Excavation Materials

Meanwhile, the issue of disposing of the 90,000 cubic meters of rocks to be excavated from within Monte Rocchetta is being resolved.

The material will be used to reinforce the lakebank in the section between the caretakers’ house and the Riva hydroelectric plant.
