Lonato History Archive Consolidates 500+ Documents for Community Access
An ambitious project to document the history of the town through everything that has been written, photographed, or filmed over the centuries. An archive that will become a documentation center available to scholars, enthusiasts, and the residents of Lonato themselves, interested in learning more about the origins and the reality of the community in which they live.
It is the «Amici della Fondazione Ugo da Como» (Friends of the Ugo da Como Foundation) who launched the initiative to «consolidate in a single entity — says an eminent member of the organization, Giancarlo Pionna — what has so far been collected, saved, or preserved, so as to have a precise reference point for our history. We know that much material is kept in private homes, jealously guarded, so we warmly invite all Lonato residents to collaborate.
Anyone who does not want to part with articles, postcards, or photographs can provide photocopies or microfilms of them». So far, over 500 articles and writings about Lonato have already been collected.
