Castiglione School Infrastructure Upgrades Highlighted by Local Councilor

Regarding the complaints from the head of the Istituto Comprensivo 1, Lena Baronio, and the criticisms of stagnation directed at the municipality concerning the state of school buildings, the Education Councillor, Giuseppe Bertoli, intervenes.

Responses to Criticisms and Interventions in School Infrastructure

“I respond with numbers,” clarifies Bertoli. “In three years of administration, the Right to Education Plan has doubled the funding for schools. For school construction, we have spent 5.5 billion euros out of the total 12 billion euros allocated during our term. A new kindergarten and a kitchen for the cafeterias are being built; there are 250 million euros for maintenance and safety upgrades; 60 million for furnishings; and we will build two new school gyms. I really believe that Castiglione ranks among the top municipalities in the province in this sector.”

The councillor is disappointed by the harsh comments made by Professor Baronio and addresses the criticisms in detail.

“Gradually, the buildings are being brought up to standard to protect students from any danger. In summer, we will start work on two gyms, one of which is right in Belvedere, where there has been none for twenty-five years,” he explains. “The corrective gymnastics activities carried out at the Beschi school, supported by the municipality for the benefit of students and not for private purposes, are in the process of being relocated, and the principal is aware of this.”

“Furthermore, this year, we are already working on the new Right to Education Plan,” adds the councillor, “with full cooperation from the schools. Certainly, initiatives for education can be further improved. I am at the forefront in seeking increased funding, but I believe the numbers fully confirm our commitment.”

Situation on the Power Line and Land Condition

Regarding the presence of the power line on the Belvedere campus, Bertoli confirmed that the mayor is involved in evaluating the situation.

These are Edison pylons that hover over a couple of kilometers of the historic center, already present when the school was built between 1971 and 1974, during the Boletti administration.
