Brescia 1000 Miglia Rally: Traffic Impact and Security Measures

Some inconveniences are unavoidable. The goal is to minimize problems as much as possible. The 1000 Miglia, the prestigious Brescia rally now in its twenty-fifth edition, started last night, and in Desenzano, cars continued to run along the lakeside promenade.

Traffic Situation

All roads are open, except for those in the historic center occupied by the race itself. «Last year, we closed the lakeside promenade — explain officials from the Polizia municipale — but this year, we’ve decided to better utilize the city center. Cars leaving the Vallone parking lot will re-enter the same parking area via Piazza Malvezzi».

These are days of intense work for the 18 officers of Desenzano’s Polizia municipale, with six on duty at a time without breaks to ensure smooth traffic flow. Maximum deployment of forces is also taking place in Salò. «Between the Vittoriale, San Michele, and Serniga, along the rally route, the road will be closed to traffic from 10:00 to 13:30 and from 14:30 to 17:30 — say the officers —. The Gardesana road will remain open and can be used as usual.

Disruptions and Refueling

The disruptions are mainly for residents of San Michele: about 40 people, representing 7-8 households overall. However, they won’t be completely trapped: they will be able to exit using the reverse route compared to the rally cars. Refueling is scheduled at the supermarket parking lot in Cunettone. The Salò center will not experience significant disruptions.

In Salò, the Polizia municipale has 13 officers (including two administrative staff). They will remain on duty without breaks until Saturday evening.
