Pozzolengo Alpini Festival Celebrates Service and Community Spirit
The Pozzolengo Alpini Festival
A grand celebration for the penne nere of Pozzolengo on Sunday, April 22nd. The Alpini from the group, which belongs to the Montesuello section of Salò, are indeed celebrating their annual festival.
Despite negative news concerning the potential abolition of conscription, the Alpini of Pozzolengo continue their march undeterred, committed to volunteer work and solidarity.
Their participation in the restoration of the avenue leading to the San Martino Ossuary Chapel, which contains the remains of many fallen soldiers from the historic battle of June 24, 1859 – an avenue devastated by severe weather last autumn – is just the latest of the initiatives where the Alpini have been active on the front line.
Event Program
Their annual festival will thus be an opportunity to reunite with fellow servicemen from other groups and branches, spend some hours together in good cheer, and review past achievements and upcoming goals.
This is the schedule for Sunday’s event. The gathering begins at 9:00 a.m. at the group’s headquarters in via Mazzini 18.
At 10:00 a.m., the march departs for the traditional parade through the streets of the town. After laying a wreath at the war memorial, the flag-raising ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. at the monument dedicated to the Alpino in the piazza dedicated to the penne nere.
At 11:00 a.m., a mass will be celebrated to honor the fallen and the Alpini who have passed away. At 12:30 p.m., a traditional spiedo lunch will be served.
The event will also include performances by the Gavardo Alpine Band and the Rivoltella Skiers and Rock Climbers Group, adding a note of solemnity to the occasion.
