Sperone Beach Restoration: Environmentalist Questions Mayor on Future Plans
Paolo Matteotti, environmentalist and especially a “senior” native familiar with what Sperone beach has represented for generations of local residents, questions the mayor to understand what intentions the administration has.
Some terraces with olive trees and a part of the beach are already covered with material originating from the tunnel excavation.
“It is not appropriate to abandon such a characteristic location, which was recovered for use just a few years ago by a group of dedicated citizens.
It seems highly useful at this point, now that the work on the new tunnel is completed, to plan access for pedestrians and cyclists, proper maintenance of the terraces with the old olive trees and the shoreline, and mooring facilities for those wishing to access by boat.”
With these premises, the councilor asks “if, how, and when efforts will be made for the restoration and the final enhancement of Sperone beach”.
