Pozzolengo Celebrates Sixth Edition of Palio della Pastasciutta and Community Events

Great enthusiasm in the nine districts of Pozzolengo for the final act of the sixth edition of the Palio di San Lorenzo, also known as the Palio della Pastasciutta.

Results of the Football Tournament and Cultural Activities

On Thursday, the seven-a-side football tournament held at the Oratorio Parrocchiale concluded. This tournament is in its third edition and was won by the Contrada Ulivi, which, after a third and second place in the previous editions, finally managed to secure victory, defeating the Contrada Palada in the final with a score of 4-2.

Third place went to the Contrada Mercato Vecchio, which defeated the Contrada San Giacomo.

Today, the second edition of the «Cantapalio», a singing competition featuring representatives from all nine districts, takes place. The first edition was won by the Contrada Castello, with the talented Monica Bertoletti.

Celebrations and History of the Palio

On Friday, August 10th, the feast of the patron saint of Pozzolengo, San Lorenzo, takes place, culminating in the final night of the Palio della Pastasciutta, now in its sixth edition.

These are the winners of the first five editions: in 1996, Contrada Ponte Cantone; in 1997, Contrada de la Fossa; in 1998, Contrada San Giacomo; in 1999, Contrada Monte Olivi; and in 2000, again Contrada Ponte Cantone.

After five years, the final evening of the Palio della Pastasciutta will no longer be held at the parish sports field but at the Centro sportivo comunale. The decision was made by the Amministrazione Comunale because the space had become too small, creating safety issues.
