Rovereto and Riva Collaborate to Boost Lake Garda Tourism and Culture
In the first meeting between the councils of Rovereto and Riva, the entire Lagarin concern centers on the need to attract visitors to the Mart to prevent the imposing and billion-euro museum structure from becoming an absurd cathedral in the desert.
The possibility of diverting a percentage of the 4 million annual visitors recorded at Lake Garda towards culture is too tempting to ignore.
Positive signals come from the opening of Torre Apponale, which has doubled visits to the Museum of the Fortress (single ticket). The support of Riva’s residents for the Rovereto initiative has allowed Malossini and Matteotti to reinforce a theme close to the hearts of the Garda residents.
Tourism development and strategies
Their reasoning is disarmingly simple: if a tourist headed along the Rovereto route takes two hours to arrive, they will not only shun Rovereto like the plague but also avoid returning to Riva.
Therefore, a plan: strong backing from the second municipality in Trentino for the enhancement of the Val Lagarina-Basso Sarca axis. This is a significant support that has so far been absent (either because it was not requested or because neighboring areas are busy with other highways).
And a subtle warning to Arco: since a short tunnel immediately is better than nothing, principled opposition risks becoming sterile self-harm.
