Grappolo d’Oro Poetry Contest Focuses on Territory and Italian Dialect
An important development in the context of the national poetry competition «Grappolo d’oro», organized by the municipal administration.
The biennial prize, now in its 14th edition, features, alongside two traditional sections, a category for poetry in Italian and the dialect of Triveneto, and a themed section. “We wanted to reinvent ourselves and open up to a new segment focused on enhancing our territory,” explains Romano Brusco, councilor for culture.
Contest Details and Theme
The theme is, quite clearly: «Il Benàco: beauty and richness of its land». Participants may enter one, two, or three categories, with one or two poetic compositions per theme, each not exceeding fifty lines.
The submissions, sorted by category and accompanied by thirty thousand lire per section, must be received in eight typed copies at the municipality’s secretariat (Prize Poetry «Grappolo d’oro») no later than September 11.
A panel comprising teachers and journalists will review the works. The prizes will be substantial: each winner in the three categories will receive a check for one million lire and a bunch of gold grapes.
Six hundred thousand lire for second place, half a million for third, and three hundred thousand lire for fourth place. An oro medal will be awarded to fifth place.
Special Prizes and Awards Ceremony
Additionally, two special awards are up for grabs: the gold medal from Pope John Paul II and the medal of the President of the Republic. The awards ceremony will take place in the municipal council chamber on Saturday, October 6, at 10:45 AM, in the presence of authorities and the authors of the compositions.
All records of the competition and the results of the last five editions will be compiled into a special publication.
