Bogliaco Marina Reclaimed for Sailing Aid to the Visually Impaired

After a lengthy administrative process, the former Bettoni marina basin in Bogliaco, publicly owned, will be used by Homerus, the association for assistance to the visually impaired in sailing sports. The inauguration has been scheduled for September 22nd at 4 p.m. The godmother chosen for the event is Mrs. Edy, mother of the famous singer Andrea Bocelli.

Status of the former marina and recovery interventions

The small marina was unused and abandoned. It was Homerus’s president, Alessandro Gaoso, who first considered it three years ago. He requested and secured an appointment with the then director of the port inspectorate, presenting a proposal for the concession of the small port along with a project.

At the end of the bureaucratic process, the Regional Authority granted the publicly owned area to the association, which will now have a nautical base. According to Gaoso, the recovery was made possible thanks to the contributions of the Region, the Municipality, various sponsors, professionals, entrepreneurs, and volunteers.

Purpose and benefits of the intervention

The boats used for training the visually impaired now have a marina in Gargnano, instead of occupying moorings in different ports (Bogliaco, Maderno). On the honorary committee, among others, Viviana Beccalossi, the President of the Province Alberto Cavalli, the provincial sports councilor Alessandro Sala, the mayors of Gargnano and Maderno, and the presidents of the Unione Ciechi in various provinces and sailing clubs have been invited to participate.
