September Event in Garda Combines Women in Jazz, Watercolors, and Fabrics

September begins with a celebration of women, jazz, wine, fabrics, and watercolors. What do these elements have in common? They are the ingredients of «Ladies in Jazz and Valeria’s Watercolors», the September event conceived by Mauro Fiorentini and Patty Garneri at the osteria Can e Gato, located in the historic center of Garda. When they took over the venue about a year ago, Mauro and Patty solemnly promised to transform it into a kind of cultural circle dedicated to art and wine. The promise was initially fulfilled through a series of high-quality winter and spring events (jazz, cabaret, book presentations, lectures), and now with this new initiative.

Women in Jazz

Jazz is woman-led. From September 3 to 7, audiences can enjoy performances by Sabrina Bighignoli, Patricia De Assis, and Daria Toffali. “The ladies of jazz will interpret great Italian and international standards as well as bossa nova,” announces Patrizia Garneri.

The schedule begins on Monday, September 3, with the Brazilian rhythms of Tapuan, featuring Patricia De Assis, Stefano Benini, and Ennio Righetti. On Tuesday, September 4, it’s the turn of the Sabrina Bighignoli Quartet: the vocalist is accompanied by Ottavio Giacopuzzi, Andrea Temporin, and Felice Campana. Wednesday features Daria Toffali along with Stefano Benini and Enrico Terragnoli. On Thursday, September 6, the Tapuan ensemble returns, and on Friday, September 7, Sabrina Bighignoli performs again with her quartet. The concerts start at 9:30 PM.

Watercolors and Fabrics

Besides jazz, what are the other ingredients of the September festival? Watercolors and fabrics come together in the artistic performance of Valeria Landini. Throughout the jazz week, the Milanese artist will exhibit her watercolor works on fabric. It appears as if to create a blend between painting and music.

Moreover, Valeria has been passionate about jazz since childhood, inspired by her father. “When I paint, I always have music accompanying me,” says the artist, “because it allows for the liberation of my feelings and strongly stimulates me.”
