Ferrari Gathering in Toscolano Maderno Highlights Italy’s Craftsmanship
Tomorrow evening, the cars participating in the “Ferrari Garda Red Meeting” will arrive in Toscolano Maderno, and will stay until Sunday. The schedule: Saturday, at 9:30 AM, departure from the Upim parking lot to circle the lake. The route: Salò – Desenzano – Peschiera – Garda (where there will be a stop for a refreshment offered by the Municipal Administration) – Malcesine – Riva – Limone (also with a stop for a buffet). Return late in the afternoon. In the evening, spit-roasted meat with contestants and the local community.
On Sunday, at 9:30 AM, a departure from Largo Matteotti, near the bridge, and a “stroll” up to the Gaino plateau, where a tasting of local traditional products will take place. Along the lakeside, three race cars will be on display: the Ferrari of 1982, with which the late Michele Alboreto participated in the Formula 1 World Championship; the BMS Dallara ’89-’90; and the prototype of the Lancia LC2. They will arrive from Maranello.
An aircraft (F104), from Villafranca, will also be present. About sixty red Ferraris will participate in the gathering: F40, 355, Dino, Testarossa, 308, 208, Mondial. The oldest models are from 1980. They belong to private owners, coming from various regions of Northern Italy.
Presentation and commitment of the organizers
The event, in its second edition, was presented yesterday afternoon in the council hall of Palazzo Benamati. “We must thank Franco Fucina and Ciao Liberato, the promoters,” said Mayor Paolo Elena. “We were struck by their enthusiasm. We hope the weather will be kind. Ferrari is the most recognized name abroad, even before pizza. It’s the highest appreciation for Italian craftsmanship.”
The mayor thanked the various supporting entities, starting with Atma, the hotel owners’ association led by Marcello Beschi. Ermes Buffoli, provincial tourism councilor, noted how, in just a few days, the lake shifts from the “white of the Centomiglia sails to the red of the prancing horse,” wishing the event the success it deserves.
Giuseppe Mongiello, president of the Garda Community, said that “revival reveals ingenuity and professional commitment. It also seeks the celebration of the innovation of sophisticated technology. Any initiative involving multiple locations and uniting the riviera shores is always welcome.”
Fabio Cauzzi, Toscolano municipal councilor, detailed the program, highlighting how the involvement of the Italian Air Force represents “a subtle but strong historical and cultural link. The military, with its F104, and Ferrari embody the myth of speed, under the banner of the tricolor.”
