Bardolino Wine Events and Research Highlighting Youth Engagement
Events and Initiatives in Bardolino
This year, in Bardolino, the events dedicated to Novello will be concentrated on Saturday, November 10 and Sunday, November 11. On this occasion, a conference titled “Young People and Wine” will be held, organized in collaboration with the Carnacina Hotel School and the Pindemonte Technical and Commercial Institute.
A recent survey by Censis highlighted that the greatest increase in consumption occurs precisely within the age group of 18 to 29 years. Young people are more willing to pay for bottles of higher value and passionately participate in wine tourism activities.
Moreover, they reveal a high degree of mental association between wine, bottle aesthetics, and cultural impressions. After the greetings from authorities (at 10 a.m. on Saturday, in the council hall of the Municipal Palace), speeches will be given by Carlo Valli, a university professor specializing in marketing, Carlo Cambi, a journalist from the group “L’Espresso,” and Alessandro Volpi, a teacher.
Following this, there will be debates and tastings. In the afternoon, at 5 p.m., the new ambassadors of Bardolino will be appointed.
The port will host the presentation of the newly formed Confraternity of the White of Custoza (in case of bad weather, the ceremony will be held inside the Barchessa Rambaldi). Bardolino Novello, on sale from November 6, displays an elegant ruby color, with a fruity aroma of raspberry, strawberry, and cherry, and a fresh, salty, delicately velvety taste.
It is produced from whole grape harvests of Corvina, Rondinella, Molinara, and Negrara. The Superiore has obtained the Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin, the first and only red wine from Veneto to receive such recognition.
This is a tribute to the ecological originality of the Garda environment. Since November 1, 2002, bottles bearing the DOCG label have been available on the market. The range also includes: Chiaretto, produced with a “pink” maceration of grapes (partial contact of the must with the skins), Spumante, a classic dry, savory, and slightly bitter DOC, and Bardolino DOC, with a vinoso, delicate, dry flavor and a faint bouquet.
Health Benefits and Characteristics of Wine
A study by Dr. Fulvio Mattivi of the Istituto di San Michele all’Adige has emphasized the presence of resveratrols, especially in the grape skins. The compound has a protective effect against cardiovascular and tumor diseases.
The fame of the grape treatment, the traubenkur, much appreciated by German tourists in autumn on the lake, is a concrete proof. Consuming up to half a liter of red wine per day can, in fact, contribute to health.
Wine acts similarly to aspirin, making the blood less viscous.
