Garda Scammers Impersonate Police for Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions on behalf of the Carabinieri.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately inform the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, disappear.
