Garda Water Authorities Urge Protecting Meters from Frost

Brescian Water Authorities have issued guidelines for residents to protect water meters from freezing temperatures during the winter cold snap. The instructions include proper insulation of meters located in external pits, niches, or cabinets, and safe methods for defrosting, with immediate application to shoreline areas and municipalities affected by the cold.

The company advises sealing meter enclosures, insulating exposed pipes with polystyrene or foam sleeves, and avoiding the use of open flames, hairdryers, or hot water for thawing. Users are also recommended to perform periodic checks after snowfalls or severe frosts and to shut off and drain systems in unused properties. Protecting water meters remains the responsibility of individual users.
