Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Hoteliers and Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the Arma.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or local police officers.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be alert and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking your money, disappear without a trace.
