Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hotel operators, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs of central and upper Garda, proposing subscriptions to military-associated magazines.

They are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after receiving the money, disappears.
