Salò Alpini Traveling Banner Marks Centennial with Celebrations and Ceremonies
The itinerant banner of the Salò Alpine Section “Monte Suello” will embark on a three-month journey starting January 27, 2026, to celebrate the section’s centenary and visit 57 Alpine Groups across Valle Sabbia and Lake Garda. The banner, decorated with medals including two gold medals for Military Valor, three for Civil Valor, along with honors from the Italian Red Cross and Civil Protection, represents over 4,500 members, including Alpini, friends, and associates.
The tour will include three days at each group’s location, concluding with a return to the section headquarters on June 13, 2026. Key events include ceremonies at Piazza della Vittoria, the Monument to the Fallen, and visits to local institutions such as schools, churches, and the town hall, with specific activities scheduled throughout late January in Salò. Each group is responsible for hosting the banner, conducting ceremonies, and facilitating local engagement before passing it to the next.
