Carabinieri Impersonators Target Garda Business Owners with Scam Subscriptions

The Carabinieri impersonators are calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the arm.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, firefighters, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

lacked the cash and then disappear.
