Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Garda Businesses and Residents

They pretend to be Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the financial police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police force.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often suggest subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

once they have the money, disappears.
