Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement institutions.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

claiming to have money, no longer shows themselves.
