Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,
