Scammers Impersonate Police to Fraudulently Offer Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not actual members of the military, but scammers who, on different occasions, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Identifying the scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they have money, disappear without a trace.
