Garda Scammers Pretending to Be Carabinieri Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions
They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering magazine subscriptions from the force.
They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire department, or the Municipal police.
Recognizing Scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.
So, beware and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
having money, no longer appears.
