Scammers Pretend to Be Police Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

Pretending to be Carabinieri, they contact hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda regions by phone, proposing magazine subscriptions from the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

So, be careful and immediately notify the true Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by those who,

if they have money, disappear and are no longer visible.
