Garda Scam Alert: Beware Fake Calls Impersonating Carabinieri

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often suggest subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have fallen prey to individuals who,

seeking money, no longer appear in sight.
