Garda Scammers Impersonate Police to Trick Local Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazine of the force.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire department, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, beware and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they needed money, would no longer show themselves.
