Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Businesses in Garda Area

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the Arma magazines.

They are not military personnel, but con artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
