Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Target Garda Businesses and Residents
Pretending to be Carabinieri, they contact hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas by phone, proposing subscriptions to military magazines.
These are not real uniformed officers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.
Recognizing the scams
They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who,
if they have money, disappear and are no longer visible.
