Garda Area Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to the force’s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
