Garda Area Scam Alert: Fake Officers Offering Unrelated Magazine Subscriptions

They pretend to be Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

wants money, and then disappears.
