Garda Scam Alert: Fake Police Impersonators Target Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.

They are not military personnel but fraudsters who, each time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal Police.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you are being targeted by someone who,
