Scammers Impersonate Authorities in Garda Call Frauds, Warn Police

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the arme magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, police, fire brigade, or the municipal Vigili.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or that have nothing to do with the authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they were after money, no longer show themselves.
