Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Target Garda Hoteliers and Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, proposing subscriptions to the Arma magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, at various times, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

if they have money, refuse to show themselves again.
